Dr. Kateryna Busol is a Ukrainian lawyer and head of ICTJ’s Ukraine program. She is also an associate professor at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and a British Academy Research Fellow at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law. As a practicing lawyer and scholar, Kateryna has worked on conflict-related sexual violence, crimes affecting cultural heritage, direct and public incitement to genocide, reparations, and Ukraine's transitional justice process. She has worked with UN Women, Global Rights Compliance, and Truth Hounds and has advised Ukrainian prosecutors and judges on armed conflict-related proceedings. Kateryna was a fellow at Chatham House and a visiting professional at the International Criminal Court’s Office of the Prosecutor.
Kateryna holds a Ph.D., LL.M., and LL.B. in International Law from the Institute of International Relations of the Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University; an M.Sc. in International Human Rights Law from the University of Oxford (Alastair McBain International Human Rights Law Scholarship); and an LL.M. in International Law from the University of Cambridge (Cambridge-Ukraine Studentship).
